Also known as the "Pink City", Jaipur is the 11th largest metropolitan city of India. It is the capital of Rajasthan State and the largest city of the state.
As per 2001 census, the population of the city was 23,24,319.
Jaipur falls in the semi arid climatic zone with an annual rainfall of 60 cm. Hence, the climate of the district is dry and is subject to extreme cold and heat during winter and summer, respectively, due to proximity to the Thar Desert. The minimum and maximum temperatures recorded in the district varies from 8 to 48 degrees celsius.

» Rail : Jaipur is very well connected to Delhi through rail transport. Shatabdi Express, Pink City Express and other Jaipur-Delhi trains leave from Old Delhi Railway Station in Delhi. However, the beast option is the Palace-on-Wheels which starts from Delhi on a round trip of Rajasthan, the first stop being Jaipur.
» Road : City is connected to most of the tourist destinations in Rajasthan as well as Agra. Jaipur is part of the Golden Travel Circuit of India that includes Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur. Delhi-Jaipur national highway is one of the finest roads in India. It takes about 5 hours to reach Jaipur from delhi by car or bus. |
